If you live in Kesgrave and you've been wondering where to play pickleball, the good news is you don't have to go far. Our weekly rec-play sessions are at RallyPoint's home at Woodbridge School, a short drive up the road - and we're back in Kesgrave itself too, with Level Up Coaching, our 8-week daytime coaching course at Kesgrave Sports Centre.
Here's everything you need to know to get on court.
Is There Pickleball in Kesgrave?
Yes! Kesgrave played a part in our story from the start - our very first Mixed Doubles League was played at Kesgrave Sports Centre back in May 2026. Since then our rec-play sessions have moved to Woodbridge School, where we've got six indoor courts in the Sports Dome and six outdoor courts, so we can run more sessions, more often.
And from Wednesday 4 November 2026, we're back at Kesgrave Sports Centre with Level Up Coaching.
Level Up Coaching in Kesgrave
Lots of you have been asking us about coaching, so here it is. Level Up Coaching is our 8-week daytime course, aimed at new and improving players who want to move their game on quicker - but anyone who wants to learn is very welcome. Each week takes one part of the game, explains the strategy behind it, then drills it with real partners until it sticks.
- When: Wednesdays, 12-1.30pm
- Where: Kesgrave Sports Centre, Kesgrave, Ipswich IP5 1JF
- Group size: small groups, max 8 players
- Price: £20 a session, booked week by week - come to all eight or pick the ones that suit you
- Coach: Will, co-founder of RallyPoint
See what's covered each week and book on the Level Up Coaching page, or in our Spond group. There's more about the course in our launch post too.
Where Do We Play?
All our rec-play sessions are at Woodbridge School, Burkitt Road, Woodbridge. Through the winter we're indoors in the Woodbridge School Sports Dome, and from around May to September we head out onto the outdoor courts - on the right as you drive down the hill, opposite the Seckford Theatre.
What Sessions Are There?
We run six rec-play sessions a week across three levels, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons:
- Improvers - for newer players who want to get the basics and rules properly locked in. Relaxed, friendly and no pressure.
- Regulars - our most popular session, for players who know the rules and play often.
- Intermediate+ - faster, more tactical and more competitive, for confident players who want to be pushed.
Times change a little between the indoor and outdoor seasons, so check Rec-Play for this season's times. Not sure which level you are? Find My Level will point you in the right direction.
We also run 8-week Mixed Doubles Leagues and tournaments if you fancy something a bit more competitive - have a look at Leagues for the next one.
I've Never Played - Where Do I Start?
Come along to one of our free taster sessions. We run them every month, and they're the easiest way to give it a go - we'll get a paddle in your hand, go through the basics and get you playing. Book your place on Eventbrite, and please don't just turn up on the day, as we need to know numbers.
Do I Need My Own Paddle?
No - paddles and balls are provided at every session. Once you're hooked (and you probably will be!), we sell beginner paddles in our shop, and you can collect your order for free at a session.
All you really need is comfy sports clothes, trainers with good grip and a bottle of water.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
Taster sessions are free. Rec-play is £7.50 a session indoors and £7.15 outdoors, and there's no membership - you just pay as you go.
How do I book?
Through our Spond group. Sessions do fill up, so it's worth booking ahead.
Is there a minimum age?
Our sessions are for players aged 15 and over, and 15-17s need a parent or guardian with them for the whole session. Younger players are welcome at our free taster sessions with a parent or guardian, though their experience may vary.
Can I come on my own?
Of course - lots of people do. Games rotate, so you'll play with different people all session and you'll know plenty of faces by the end of it.
See You on Court
We've got a community of over 300 members, with players coming from Kesgrave, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Martlesham and right across East Suffolk. If you're in Kesgrave and fancy giving pickleball a go, we'd love to see you at Woodbridge - or just down the road at Level Up Coaching.
